Severn Trent took schoolchildren into a virtual reality to inspire young people into becoming the next generation of engineers.

The company took part in the Big Bang Fair 2017 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and took some of its newest technology along to engage with the youngsters.

Dr Shahad Al-Janabi, from Severn Trent, said: “We always grasp the opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers and on this occasion we were able to take along some of our apprentices and graduates to give the students a real taste of what it’s like to work for Severn Trent.“

Severn Trent was recently named in the first-ever Social Mobility Employer Index which ranks Britain’s top employers on the actions they are taking to ensure everyone has the opportunity to find a job and to be promoted, regardless of their background.

The company has 125 apprentices and 65 graduates working across the business, having been brought in over the past two years and intends to add 62 apprentices and 38 graduates for 2017/18.
