Idrica and its smart water platform GoAigua are global leaders in digital transformation.

Specialising in ultra-efficient water management solutions for utilities, this world-class brand focuses on upgrades in five core areas:

drinking water

wastewater management

irrigation

agriculture

water resources

Its innovative software and services optimise processes and streamline asset management, water use and energy consumption.

History

Idrica has a fine pedigree, building up over a decade of experience in the digital transformation of water.

Over a decade ago, Global Omnium, a 130-year-old Spanish water utility which manages the water supply of over 400 cities, began a pioneering work in sensors, data mining and analytics that ultimately led to the creation of GoAigua’s pioneering software solution. This revolutionary product – designed by water experts for water experts – offers award-winning state-of-the-art insights for the entire water management lifecycle, from operations to customer experience.

The success of this venture led to the creation of Idrica, which was founded to market the GoAigua solution and water industry services around the world. Idrica’s solutions serve more than 7 million users globally. The company has operations throughout Europe and the US, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

GoAigua software

GoAigua’s modular solutions break down information silos and provide high-value data, for a holistic real-time view of processes and infrastructure. They are designed for the entire water cycle:

Drinking water – smart solutions to optimise end-to-end management of drinking water supply plants and networks

Wastewater – smart solutions for optimised management of wastewater treatment plants, and sewer and rainwater drainage networks

Irrigation – optimisation of water consumption and centralised irrigation automation

Agriculture – end-to-end management of agricultural irrigation infrastructure and networks

Water resources – integration of river basin management

GoAigua’s smart platform brings together all the digital components of water utility infrastructure: SCADA, GIS, ERP, AMI/AMR, CMMS and IoT sensors. It uses advanced AI/ML algorithms across all activities, with real-time monitoring and responses to build proactive, agile and resilient organisations.

Idrica services

Idrica also provides high-quality support in technical assistance, billing management, engineering and consultancy.

The company’s unique value proposition is based on efficiency and quality, with specialised support aimed at helping utilities optimise infrastructure and resources, improve service quality and adopt a customer-centric approach. Experts analyse the utility needs, establish the right fit and deliver fully-fledged end-to-end transformation solutions.

Making a difference

Proven overall results include a 40% reduction in non-revenue water, 20% improvement in O&M efficiency, 60% improvement in customer experience, and a 2000t reduction in CO2 emissions.

Partners in innovation

Idrica works closely with GoHub, an open innovation hub which provides quick access to deep-tech startups focusing on water, industry 4.0 and smart cities. This collaboration gives Idrica instant access to cutting-edge solutions and technologies, which are tested and validated before reaching the market.

Digital transformation in action

Global Omnium built the GoAigua solution during its own digital transformation journey. The results are phenomenal. In Valencia, one of the Spanish cities where the utility operates, benefits include 70% savings in deployment costs, 20% savings in asset management, 2,500 customer leaks detected per month, 60% reduction in claims and 4hm3 savings in non-revenue water.

The utility – which is also based in Valencia – specialises in drinking water treatment and wastewater management. It was faced with the complex challenge of managing up to 400 services across a wide geographical area, as well as integrating existing systems, sensors and communication protocols for each infrastructure.

By introducing unified management, creating a digital twin and controlling field work, operational efficiencies have risen by more than 15% over the last 10 years.

Leak detection has seen a substantial increase and water losses have reduced by an average of 18%, with the introduction of near real-time water balances, remote reading systems with flow measurement systems in the network, and use of AI algorithms to pinpoint leak locations.

Digital transformation has provided Global Omnium with a holistic approach to service management and ushered in a genuine culture of change.
