On February 5th 2019, Trelleborg, through its Trelleborg Industrial Solutions business area, assumed full ownership of the joint venture with Max Seal. This includes a manufacturing facility based in Tijuana, Mexico, that produces watertight seals for a variety of plastic and double corrugated wall pipe systems for water and wastewater.

Since 2014, Trelleborg and Max Seal have been developing and manufacturing polymer-based sealing systems together. The operation has already been fully consolidated financially and on February 5, 2019, Trelleborg acquired the remaining 49 percent of the shares of Max Seal. The 130 employees become part of the Americas organization of Trelleborg’s seals and profiles operation.

Magnus Andersson, Business Unit President of Trelleborg’s seals and profiles operation, says: “I am delighted to announce that we have completed the purchase of the outstanding equity of the joint venture with Max Seal. The JV was established in 2014 to enable us to expand into Latin America and create better customer proximity through local production. The decision to take full control of operations means that we are more able to serve our growing customer base in the region and to drive greater efficiencies in production and the supply chain through Group Excellence programs.”

Alan Guzowski, who was the Managing Director of Max Seal, will exit the business. Leadership will be taken up by Smith McKee.

Smith McKee, Managing Director of Trelleborg’s seals and profiles operation in the Americas, says: “This marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the business as we seek to continue our growth and development.”
