Watertrain, the UK’s leading provider of apprenticeships and technical training to the water industry, and OnSite, specialists in maintaining key assets and infrastructure to ensure the smooth running of water and waste water industries, are building skills for the future through their training partnership.
This partnership focuses on the provision of Watertrain’s apprenticeships to new recruits, which is enabling OnSite to develop skills for the future and remain at the forefront of supporting the water industry through their expert solutions.
The collaboration additionally highlights OnSite’s commitment to workforce development and their recognition of the benefits that apprenticeships offer in providing young people and new recruits with the knowledge and skills they need to begin a rewarding career – and contribute to the growth of an organisation and the wider sector.
One of the core apprenticeships being delivered by Watertrain to learners at OnSite is the Level 2 Water Network Operative Standard. This apprenticeship focuses on equipping individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to ensure the serviceability and condition of water networks.
In first delivery of the apprenticeship, all 12 learners from OnSite successfully completed the programme with many achieving a Distinction grade. The most recent cohort has now passed their Multiple-Choice Test and will soon receive their results following their End Point Assessment.
One learner said: “Watertrain have helped me develop a lot of knowledge about the water industry and how consumers receive water on a day-to-day basis. They have given me knowledge for the apparatus used on the network. This has led to me being able to do an array of different jobs within the company.”
Keri Davies, Managing Director at Watertrain, commented: “Our mission is to deliver training that not only meets industry standards, but also inspires confidence and ambition in the learners we work with. Partnering with OnSite has allowed us to see firsthand how effective training can build careers and strengthen the industry. We’re proud to be a part of their journey in developing the next generation of the workforce.”
As the water industry continues to evolve, the need for a skilled and adaptable workforce becomes increasingly important. Watertrain’s partnership with OnSite serves as a model for how collaborative efforts can address the skills gap.
By offering clear pathways into rewarding careers, organisations can help to secure the industry’s future and ensure it has the talent required to maintain and improve vital water services for years to come, while providing individuals with valuable qualifications and experience.
